We felt it was essential to provide you with a clear understanding of how these manufacturers handle their product warranties. A new or full roof replacement is a significant investment, and you need to know how you are protected by a 10, 25, or 50-year warranty with the products we install.
Ethical Exteriors Inc. is a certified installer of the CertainTeed and GAF brands. We are working on obtaining the Owens Corning Platinum Preferred Contractor status. Any Owens Corning roofing product Ethical Exteriors installs is fully covered by Owens Corning warranty protection.
NEVER will we sell a product that we believe is inferior, and we would not tell you we can offer a manufacturer’s protection coverage that we can’t apply. This is a bad practice, don’t be fooled by other roofing companies that say they can.
We appreciate all your questions about warranties, and the better you understand the fine print, the better you will be at making the right choice for your home.
Always ask the Roofing Contractor to put the warranty in writing for both the materials and labor.
Keep all paperwork concerning the project and all documentation about the product and labor warranties.

Warranties are broken down into two components,
1) The manufacturer warranty on the selected shingle
2) The installer’s warranty on backing up what was installed.
The consumer needs both to have a good warranty on their roof for many years.

Ethical Exteriors Inc.
1. We will use all Owens Corning Approved Products to achieve the minimum four (4) Owens Corning components required by their standards.
2. Wind Warranty Protection is good if wind gusts do not exceed 130 miles/hour and only on the Owens Corning Starter Shingles. 110 MPH is standard with four nail applications. 130 MPH is applicable only with the 6-nail applications. We will adjust the product, installation techniques, and pricing to cover these installation requirements.
3. Algae protection is typically ten years on most products. Fifteen years on Berkshire line.
4. Owens Corning warranty is good as long as the owner owns the home.
5. Lifetime workmanship is only available to the original purchaser and is not fully transferrable. Coverage is prorated after the first twenty-five (25) years.
1. We will use all CertainTeed Approved Products and Materials to achieve component-required compliance.
2. For new and full roof replacements, the CertainTeed SureStart Brand 10-year warranty covers the costs for roof tear-off, metal work, flashing replacement, and the disposal expense incurred during repairs.
3. Lifetime Warranty is only available to individual property owners living at the property and is used as their primary residence. The warranty period for Other Ownership for these shingles is limited to 50 years and the SureStart period is ten years following the installation of the shingles.
2. Wind Warranty Protection is good if wind gusts do not exceed 110 miles/hour on all brands except the XT 25 Year Products. You can purchase a wind warranty upgrade that matches 130 Miles/hour.
3. Algae protection is typically 15 years on most CertainTeed product brands.
4. This Limited Warranty is transferable only by the original property owner to the first subsequent property owner. After the Limited Warranty has been transferred once, it can no longer be shared. The transfer period must be before the first ten years of the installation date. It is essential to keep all paperwork about the installation Quotes, Invoices, and a copy of the warranty coverage sent to the manufacturer about your property and the product installed.
5. For Lifetime product warranties, at the 40th year mark, the maximum liability is limited to 480/600, or 20% of the total. In other words, if the replacement repairs cost is $20,000, then CertainTeed will cover $4,000.
1. We are GAF Shingle & Accessory Limited Warranty, Roofing System Limited Warranty, and System Plus Limited Warranty installers.
2. See the figure below for items in the first three columns. This warranty chart is straightforward and is the easiest to understand.
3. If you desire to have the Silver or Golden Pledge Limited Warranty, then there will be an upgraded price to add these warranties. For Ethical Exteriors Inc., there is always a ten-year labor warranty on any new or full roof replacement.
